Christian Education and Study

Intentional Faith Development

The congregation at Hinton Avenue UMC is dedicated to fostering an environment of intentional faith development. We provide numerous activities that help persons continue in exploring their faith and to share that faith with the world. Whether this is through a traditional Sunday School class, bible study, or outreach to the Belmont neighborhood, we are committed to helping each other grow in their individual faith development.

"Rekindle Our Hearts"

"Rekindle Our Hearts" is a thought-provoking study that will challenge the way we think about what it means to be a Christian. Written and taught by Rachel Lewis, this 10-week class will be held on Thursday mornings 10 am-12 noon beginning Jan 17, and Sunday evenings 5-7 pm beginning Jan 20. There are no books to buy, but folks are encouraged to bring a pen, their Bible of choice, and a snack to be shared (It does not have to be much). Coffee and tea will be provided. Talk to Rachel Lewis if you have questions or are planning to attend.

Children's Church

Children's Church is available for kids 13 and under during the second half of Sunday morning worship. The kids get a chance to learn how to worship God in age-appropriate ways through songs, games, stories and crafts. Come join the fun!

Sunday School

Hinton Avenue UMC provides Sunday School classes for all ages at 9:45 on Sunday mornings.

Confirmation Class

Confirmation is a multi-week program where our youth explore their faith and learn what it means to be a United Methodist. At the end of the program the youth are given an opportunity to be “confirmed” as a full member of the church by affirming their personal faith in Jesus Christ.
